How Quality Works Here

Hamilton Pallets is a referral service, so pallets are inspected and graded by partner suppliers, not by us. Grading isn't a single formal standard, and it can vary between suppliers. This page explains what the common grades usually mean and what to check, so you can confirm the details in your quote.

Say how you will use the pallets so a supplier can suggest a grade

Common Grades

Grade A

  • Minimal to no visible wear
  • No broken or loose boards
  • All blocks/stringers intact and secure
  • A common choice for visible uses

Grade B

  • Minor wear visible but structurally sound
  • All boards intact, minor staining acceptable
  • May have repaired boards
  • Suitable for most applications

Grade C

  • Visible wear but still functional
  • Structurally sound for light-duty use
  • May have minor cosmetic defects
  • Suited to one-time or light use

What to Check

Visual Inspection

  • Check for cracks, splits, or broken boards
  • Assess overall structural integrity
  • Examine for contamination or staining
  • Verify dimensions meet standards

Structural Checks

  • Look for loose blocks or stringers
  • Check for protruding nails or fasteners
  • Check for wood rot or decay
  • Confirm the load rating with the supplier

Export and Paperwork

ISPM 15: Export shipments may need heat-treated pallets carrying the ISPM 15 mark. Heat treatment means a core temperature of 56 °C for at least 30 minutes.

Paperwork: If you need documents for a shipment, ask the partner supplier what they can provide, and check current regulations for your destination.
